Brief Bio
Professor Mohammad S. Obaidat (Fellow of IEEE and Fellow of SCS) is an internationally well-known academic/researcher/ scientist. He received his Ph.D. and M. S. degrees in Computer Engineering with a minor in Computer Science from The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, USA. Dr. Obaidat is currently the Chair and Full Professor of Computer and Information Science at Fordham University, NY, USA. He has received extensive research funding and has published Forty Six (46) books and over Six Hundreds and Eighty (680) refereed technical articles in scholarly international journals an proceedings of international conferences, and currently working on three more books. Mohammad is the Editor-in-Chief of the Wiley International Journal of Communication Systems, the FTRA Journal of Convergence and the KSIP Journal of Information Processing. He is also an Editor of IEEE Wireless Communications. He is now an editor of the Wiley Security and Communication Networks Journal, Journal of Networks, International Journal of Information Technology, Communications and Convergence, IJITCC, Inderscience. Prof. Obaidat is an associate editor/ editorial board member of seven other refereed scholarly journals. He has guest edited numerous special issues of scholarly journals. Brief Bio
Marten van Sinderen holds a MSc in Electrical Engineering and a PhD in Computer Science, both from the University of Twente (UT). He is currently Associate Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science of the UT, and coordinator of the research area on Service Architectures and Health Applications at UT's Centre for Telematics and Information Technology (CTIT). His research focuses on design methods and technologies for distributed information systems. His research interests include service-oriented architectures, model-driven design, enterprise interoperability, and business-IT alignment. Marten van Sinderen is active in both national and international communities on his field of interest. He was project manager of the Dutch Freeband/A-MUSE project (BSIK 03025) on model-driven design of context-aware services. He currently leads the Dutch GenCom/U-Care project (IGC0816) on tailorable and adaptive homecare services. He is chairman of the steering committee of the International IEEE Enterprise Computing Conference (EDOC), and program co-chair of the International Conference on e-Business (ICE-B). He is also a member of the managerial board of IFIP WG5.8 on Enterprise Interoperability, and a member of the editorial boards of the Enterprise Information Systems journal published by Taylor & Francis and the Service oriented Computing and Applications journal published by Springer. ... Brief Bio
Paulo Novais is an Associate Professor with Habilitation of Computer Science at the Department of Informatics, in the School of Engineering of the University of Minho (Portugal) and a researcher at the ALGORITMI Centre in which he is the coordinator of the research group ISlab - Synthetic Intelligence, and the coordinator of the research line in “Ambient intelligence for well-being and Health Applications”.
He is the director of the PhD Program in Informatics and co-founder and Deputy Director of the Master in Law and Informatics at the University of Minho.
He started his c
reer developing scientific research in the field of Intelligent Systems/Artificial Intelligence (AI), namely in Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, Machine Learning and Multi-Agent Systems.
His interest, in the last years, was absorbed by the different, yet closely related, concepts of Ambient Intelligence, Ambient Assisted Living, Intelligent Environments, Behavioural Analysis, Conflict Resolution and the incorporation of AI methods and techniques in these fields.
His main research aim is to make systems a little more smart, intelligent and also reliable.
He has led and participated in several research projects sponsored by Portuguese and European public and private Institutions and has supervised several PhD and MSc students. He is the co-author of over 250 book chapters, journal papers, conference and workshop papers and books.
He is the president of APPIA (the Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence) for 2016/2017, Portuguese representative at the IFIP - TC 12 - Artificial Intelligence chair of the Working Group on Intelligent Agent (WG12.3), and member of the executive committee of the IBERAMIA (IberoAmerican Society of Artificial Intelligence).
During the last years he has served as an expert/reviewer of several institutions such as EU Commission and FCT (Portuguese agency that supports science, technology and innovation).
